Fun Monday - I Need a Hero

Kitten is hosting this week's Fun Monday, and her request? Tell me about the Super Hero in your life. Not from TV, but anyone that has been or is in your life that you have really looked up to or has made a impact on your life. It can one or many. You can share pictures if you like. Just have fun with it.

So, I tried, really, I tried to come up with someone. The thing is...I don't really have a "Hero". I have several folks I look up to, and admire, my mom, my dad, certain friends and people I have met on the road of life. But I don't really qualify any of them as my "hero". I find the hero thing a bit out of my realm of comprehension, to be honest. It's funny because Candid Mama and I were talking about it yesterday, and she said she wasn't going to participate in FM this week because she didn't really "get" the hero thing. Something we've never discussed, but we both agree on, I guess. Funny how that is.

So, I don't have a hero for you today. Sorry to disappoint.

But instead of ignoring all the FM'ers, since I did sign up, I thought I'd entertain you all with my antics this morning. What was I doing at 9:45 a.m.? Sitting at my computer, hitting the refresh key repeatedly, waiting for New Kids On The Block tickets to go on sale at 10AM. Did I get them?

Yes SIREE!! Myself, M&M, PM, and BFF will be going to see NKOTB in September, and will be acting like complete 13 year olds. I can't wait!

OH, also, as I was typing this very post, I received a call from the place I interviewed on Friday. They want me back for a second interview (this time to met with the CFO and again with the CEO) on Wednesday morning. They also wanted my SSN so they can run a background check. That's promissing, right?
One more thing: I did a movie review for Invincible over at Cafe Karina, (no spoilers in my reviews ever) won't you stop on by for a cup'a?

Happy Monday Everyone! OH, and Happy Cinco De Mayo (which by the way, I learned two years ago while in Mexico, Mexicans DO NOT celebrate). There's some useless trivia for you...happy to oblige.

Happy Sunday

Yesterday was a totally and completely lazy day at Casa Karina. The weather was rainy and crappy, and I was exhausted and decided that I would give myself a day of staying in my jammies all day, catching up on my Tivo'd shows, and watching a movie or two.

I literally sat on my couch ALL day and did nothing. It was absolutely fabulous.

Today, however, I'm suffering from cabin fever, and cannot wait to get out of the house. I have things to do, places to be, and just can't sit still for much longer.

Therefore, talk amongst yourselves, I'll be back tomorrow with a Fun Monday hosted by Kitten. Go on over there to sign up if you haven't done so yet.

Later.

Follow-Up Friday with a side of AWESOME.

So yours truly had her very first job interview in over five years today. And yours truly was extremely nervous about same. I'm happy to report that I ROCKED IT!!

That's it. End of entry.

OH, you want more? Alright fine, twist my arm.

All kidding aside folks, I don't think I've ever interviewed as well as I did today. I was very much at ease, and feel I said all the right things at all the right moments. There were two people interviewing me, the head of HR and the CEO of the company, who would become my boss were I to be hired. Both were really nice and the CEO totally reminded me of my boss at the firm (in all the good ways, that is). Anyway, the company sounds like a great place to work, and the job sounds interesting and I think I could not only do the job well, but actually really enjoy working there. I liked them, and I really think they liked me. I basically walked out of there feeling like I did all I could, and if I don't get this job, then it simply wasn't meant to be, but it's not due to my screwing up the interview.

Anyway, they didn't really say "when" I'd hear back, but as I was walking out with the HR lady I said it was a pleasure to meet her and looked forward to hearing from her, and she said something like "We will definitely call you". So, I am not going to do that whole "counting chickens before they hatch" thing, but I feel pretty good about this.

I've already sent off my thank you notes, so now it is out of my hands and into God's. If it is meant to be, then it will be, and if not, well then, that's just the way the cookie crumbles, isn't it?

Thank you all for your prayers and good luck wishes and vibes though. I have no doubt they helped tremendously.

And now I was going to do a whole follow-up Friday post, but mom wants me to head over to tell her all about my interview so instead I leave you with this VERY RANDOM question:

Thong underwear, yay or nay?

I said it was random. I'll elaborate more at a later date, I promise.

See you all tomorrow for Photo Hunter.

Thursday Thirteen #52- All About the Shoes

I didn't know about the "alphabet theme" going on at TT today, but we'll just call mine S, for Shoes...For today's Thursday Thirteen, we're going to go back. Back into my archives and a request I made of my readers to ask me questions, so that I could have some blog fodder for NaBloPoMo or something like that. I've managed to answer most of those questions, but there was one that I was saving for a special occasion, because it was all about shoes. And you all know how I feel about shoes. And then, the question got lost somewhere, and I recently unearthed it, and figured it was time.

The question, posed by my friend Qualcosa Di Bello was: "What is your absolute favorite pair of shoes, past and present?

Well, if you know me, then you know that is pretty much an impossible question for me to answer. Asking me to choose a favorite pair of shoes is like asking a mother to tell you her favorite child. No way I can do that and risk offending the feelings of the others. So, in lieu of giving a straight answer, I give you today's Thursday Thirteen, all about my favorite shoes:

1. We'll go to the past first. As I mentioned in this post, I don't actually have really strong memories of "shoes" in my childhood. My love affair with shoes began a bit later in life. But I do remember one particular pair of turquoise blue "jellys" that I was completely in love with. I wish I could show you a photo, but I don't have any here...I should have borrowed one of CandidMama's photo albums. But you remember jellys, right? Boy how I loved mine.

2. Then, in about the 7th grade, I had this fantastic pair of imitation hi-top chuck taylors in baby blue and pink. Laugh if you want, but I loved those things. They earned me the nick-name "Punky" (after Punky Brewster) and I was so darn proud of that.

3. I went to college during the grunge and gangsta rap stage. My style was a mixture of both, so on any given day, you could find me in some serious "shit-kicker" boots, but I had them in all colors and styles, to go with the rest of my eclectic wardrobe.

4. It wasn't until after college that I discovered my love affair with "girly" shoes. And I have never looked back. Here are some (just some) of my current favorites. I've put away my boots (thinking the summer was here...HA!) so of my boots, I have only these to show you:5. Currently, I'm all about the stilletos. These I searched for high and low because I saw this color shoe on some celebs last year, and I just HAD to have them. I love them, but they might just be the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I own...
6. I just LOVE my black and pink ones, how cute are they, seriously?

7. Every woman should own a pair of pink shoes. The picture doesn't do the color of these justice, however...I couldn't get the color to come out right, but they are a very pretty, girly, pink.

8. I've shared these recently with you, they are my brand new "interview" shoes, which I bought to wear with my brand new "interview" suit. They will both make their debut on Friday. OH, did I mention I have a job interview on Friday? Because I do. And it is for a job literally 5 minutes from my house, so if you could all keep me in mind with positive thoughts and all that, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Okay, back to the shoes:

9. And what's a shoe collection without a pair of red shoes?

10. And soon enough, I'll be able to break out the open toed shoes. These are my absolute favorites i that category:

11. Or maybe it's these:

12. Hmmm...could be these sketcher flip-flops,actually, because I practically live in them all summer long:

13. But when all else fails, you can always just go barefoot. Just make sure to get a nice pedicure first. You can thank Sognatrice for the shot of my newly manicured toes, as I was complaining my BFF treated me to a pedi, and then the weathe got to cold to show off my toes, and she suggested I post a photo...so here you go...In all my OPI "I've Red The Script" glory:

Don't you just love my pink jammies?
